Professional indemnity for estate agents

In order to renew their accreditation status, agents accredited with the Singapore Accredited Estate Agencies must have valid professional indemnity (PI) insurance.

What PI insurance does is to help the property buyer recover part of his or her losses stemming from (for example) bad advice given by the real estate agent.

Tampines site sees 8 bidders

Remember back in November 2009 when we featured eight mass market sites the Govt released to cool down the market? Well, the latest one that's been taken up is the Tampines site. It turned out to be rather popular, drawing a total of eight bids.

Sim Lian Land has put in a top bid of $302m for this 99-year leasehold site facing Bedok Reservoir.

Private home sales in February hit 1,196

According to the latest property data released by URA, February 2010 sales of new condos (or private non-landed homes) reached 1,196, slightly short of the 1,476 seen in January. Though that figure is lower, let's not forget that last month had fewer days as well as the long Lunar New Year break.

Seems that the buying fervour hasn't been tempered by the cooling measures put in by the Govt. We've done some maths, come in and take a look.

HDB launches anti-speculation measures

After all that chatter about flats not being affordable, HDB has hit back with a roundhouse combo of anti-speculation measures. Sure they call it 'Reinforcing Owner-Occupation Among HDB Flat Owners', but we know what this means - no more making a quick buck off your resale flat.

Buangkok Executive Condo site gets highest ever bid

We were spot on when we said that this executive condo site would be hot when the tender was launched. 11 bids later - Frasers Centrepoint and Lum Chang Building Contractors seem to have won out with an all-time high bid (for ECs) of $193m or $315psf.

Luxury home prices going up

CBRE estimates that luxury prices could increase by about 10% to 15% this year - this is on top of the 25% increase last year. They cite sales of 88 units of the Urban Suites at $2,500 psf and 35 units of The Laurels at $2,500 psf to $2,900 psf.
