Tourneys

It looked like everyone had fun with the tournaments. The COD4 was short but I heard good feedback. The Day of Defeat had only two teams but was a great match. The Team Fortress 2 tournament had a good number of teams and looked like everyone had fun with that.

General gaming

There were several other games that were played, including Warcraft 3, Quake III, UT3, and Starcraft.

Problems worked through

Internet

In case anyone did not know what the problem was, the problem was that the hotel's internet kept blocking MAC addresses. About 10 or 15 minutes after the internet was shared, we would get blocked. Their devices either had a bandwidth monitor or did not like NAT behind NAT. We tried different set-ups to try and get around it but they all got blocked. So this was unfortunatly out of our hands.

Next time I will try and find someone that will be willing to share the G3 card or something. That should be fast enough to login to steam.

Room

We might be able to manage to have more IndySmash's at the hotel yet. Before the next party I will know more about what the hotel and I come up with for an agreement.

Tournaments

I was able to get a few things written down, but if you were in a tournament and/or remember who was all on your team please email me, comment to this, etc, and let me know. That way I can get it on the web site for who won it, etc.

Money

There are some people that said that they would paypal me or have a tab, please do so. This is so I can continue to buy snacks and such to provide at the party. Also so that I can continue to use the honor system. People would rather play than to run a snack bar :).

Picutures or video

If you have any pictures, I would love to share them on the site. Please let me know, I have a FTP site that you can login to for getting them to me. Or if you have a way, that is fine too.

Video to make

I did not get all of the video that I was hoping to, but I got enough to make something which is great. Thank you for all that interviewed and contributed to this. I will get this done as soon as I can but it will take some time.

Thank you for coming and to this thing. Without anyone showing up, nothing can happen. Also I want to thank the ones that helped with trash, putting up chairs, setting up, running cable, taking out the ice, etc. You guys did this with no problem and I appreciate all of it. If I asked for someone to do something, always a few hands went up. Awesome guys.

Game

You might have heard of the team Colts. There is a game on Saturday in case you don't know :). There has always been a TV and cable in the room. I will call and make sure though. If not I'm sure someone can come up with a TV.

Table reminder

I think everyone knows by now, but we have been using the 2ft wide tables now. Since everyone pretty much has a LCD now, they work fine. Just a reminder.

Food and drinks

Drinks

I am going to try and not buy too many drinks, although I want to buy enough.

I will probably buy the following:

2 cases of bawls
1 case or red bull
1 case of Monster

That does not sound like a lot in some aspects, but last time there was a bunch left over.

Other Foods

I will have some sloppy joes to add to the food choices, something other than just hot dogs, nachoes, and pizza.

Pictures

Do you have any pictures from particularly the older LAN parties? If you do please let me know, I would love to add them to the site. I do not have any from when I was having it at my house.

I will be taking pictures, but there will be the common drive and if you would put your pictures on there for all to share.

Common Drive

On the computer/server "Eagle" there will be an open share to put game updates and such. This will keep everyone from having to worry about making shares just to share a map or something. Also as mentioned above people can put their pictures that the take at the party there.

Game Updates

I will have very few game updates. For the most part a lot of what is played now are Steam games. As mentioned on the computer setup page, make sure that you save your Steam login information. If the internet is not available this means that you will not be able to play Steam games, that is if you do not save your login information.

Other Game Updates
If you have game updates, please put them in the eaglecommon share. I used to have a ton of updates but I do not have those anymore. I figure that should not be a problem as there are usually several people that have the game updates. Also please do this in a somewhat organized fashion.

Web site remember me setting

I thought that I would mentioned this here. Someone was asking about a remember me setting for the login. I wish to do this but with my hobby coding skills, I have not done it as sessions is over my head thus far and have not been able to spend the time on coding it.

I agree that it is inconvenient to have to login everytime and would like a remember me setting as well, but until then we will have to login each time after the session expires.

Some Thoughts

We are getting closer to the event, I hope everyone is getting excited.

Reminders

Here are a few notes/reminders/whatever.

What IndySmash is or isn't
IndySmash has tried to concentrate on having fun. Tournaments, prizes, and the like come second place to just having fun. I started this LAN party for a few reasons and one reason was for the people running it could game. To keep the planning time for the party to a minimum. To allow things to go with the flow with least amount of people getting bent out of shape because of server crashes, power, etc. To just hang back and get to know one another along with gaming.

There are going to be some tournaments, and maybe a few prizes or maybe no prizes. I imagine that I will have something small for tournaments for the winners. Whether that be a energy drink or something else.

Payments
For the most part I keep pretty current with keeping the payments taken care of. If you do not hear from me after a few days after paying, please email me a reminder or maybe I missed the paypal email that tells me someone has paid.

I believe that is it for now.

Forum is done for now

The forum is upgraded. I had to do a manual upgrade, exporting and importing the data after a clean install of the forum.

All of the data is pretty much there including the U2Us, favorites, etc.

Website update

Return breaks in profile information

I changed it so that the character returns work in the profile information of computer specs, hobbies and whatever.

Profile bugs

If you have trouble upating your profile, empty your computer specs, hobbies, whatever, or all of them. Then try to update it. There are some problems with some characters with the new server. Well not a problem but more strict.

I gave up on the forum upgrade for now. It is open for use until I want to try next time, which might just be after the party.

The only reason that I was upgrading was to try and keep spammers off of it.

The forum is still turned off. I will try and get it fixed soon. Maybe I will just turn it back to the way that it was before trying to upgrade it and let it be.

Some updates

Site Updates

I made some additions to your profiles, namely email options. Take these how you will, but you can opt in for receiving an email for the following things:

Email when someone updates their profile
Email when someone joins IndySmash
Email when someone registers for the party
Email when someone makes a comment to a news post

The one most of you might like could be the email when someone makes a comment. Before you would just have to visit the site to see if someone made a comment.

These changes might not even be used, but they were kind of fun to put in. I at least wanted to do the comment email, then the others used basically the same code so I put them in as well.

Email test

With this post and email, I am testing the email function as well. Hopefully that will work better, not having extra characters and such.

Tournaments

I added the Day Of Defeat Source orange map to the tournaments again, since I was unable to participate last time. I also added the tournament for where you can only die once. Double elimination. 1 on 1. That should bring out a different way of combat.

Forum

I am working on the forum. It works right now but I think there are a few things wrong with it because the upgrade did not go smoothly. Feel free to use it in the meantime.

Helpers

I assume partly that there will be the same people helping this time around. I will start working on the details. I usually get with people directly.
